Primal Cereal

Primal cereal looks like a bowl of oatmeal, but tastes a million times better.  The original recipe is from Mark Sisson’s Primal Blueprint Quick and Easy Meals.  I couldn’t resist tweaking the recipe a bit.

My doctor told me I have an allergy to eggs, so I’ve been trying to avoid them as much as possible.  I didn’t really need him to tell me I was allergic to eggs because I pretty much already knew I was.  I just figured if no one officially told me so, I could just keep on eating them without abandon.  No such luck.  Ignorance is not bliss.  Any way…this is a tasty alternative.  It’s very filling too, so don’t plan an early lunch if decide to go for it.

Primal Cereal

Serves 1

  • 1/4 cup whole almonds
  • 1/2 cup pecans
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground Vietnamese cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk, plus more to taste

Pulse all ingredients in a food processor or blender until desired consistency is reached.  You can eat it hot, but I haven’t felt the need do so.  Just heat it on the stove top.  Add fresh fruit and a little more almond milk or coconut milk to taste.  I’ve got a tree full of Mission figs, so that’s how I decided to roll today.

My sister has continued beyond the 30 days with her Whole 30 program.  She’s continuing to lose inches and gain more energy.  I joined her last weekend for a personal training session and I was sore for days afterwards.  My sister, who now has the strength of Zena, the warrior princess, wasn’t so sore.  My sister could barely walk just a few short months ago!  Coincidence?  I think not.  You are what you eat!  Sometimes I’m ice cream then.   But most of the time I’m Marge:)
